My hometown being Satara, I was always swimming in the Krishna river. Be it in the monsoon when the flow was very strong or in summer when it was relaxed, I enjoyed swimming.
I had joined army where my seniors saw my talent, ability and as a good swimmer.
This is how my professional career began in swimming.
I was awarded the best swimmer in Inter Battalion competition 1981
I have represented Maharashtra in various national level competitions.
1987, 1989- represented services (Services Sports Control Board) In National
I have 9 years Senior National champion record.
In 1993 I represented India in South Asian Triathlon Championship
In 2009 I was part of India team as a coach in World School Games, Doha, Qatar.
I have completed my Diploma from Rashtriya Kride Sanstha Patiyala in 1995.
In the period from 1996-2000, I have been All India Army team coach.
In the tenure from 2001-2017 I have been the selector for State and school national teams
My students have won many medals in national and international games.
Ramesh Singh Tamata reached Olympics trials for open water swimming.
